ENVIRONMENT

Photography, in general, is not great for the environment. Equipment and electronics consume valuable resources. Prints often utilize toxic inks, bleaches, and finishes. Photographers use a substantial amount of electricity to power computers, strobes, and cameras.

Although there is no way to escape all of this, I am dedicated to make my footprint as small as possible. I buy used equipment whenever possible, keeping it out of landfills and preventing more from being produced. I buy my electricity from clean, renewable sources. I print using soy-based inks and recycled paper whenever possible (my business cards, for instance, are FSC and Rainforest Alliance certified, and are printed with soy-based inks and a water-based biodegradable coating).
